    Default MINIs/Miatas at Hallett

I got this from Connie this morning.

Happy New Year to our Hallett Miata friends,
The Midtown MINI club has asked me to let you know that they have reserved 10 spots for Miatas (experienced drivers only please)
for their event March 10th. To reserve your spot sign up NOW https://www.facebook.com/events/108771369885138/
If this all comes together, there may be two Miata/MINI events every season at Hallett !!
I will assume you have already marked your calendars for our Sept 7-8 Miata@Hallett event (16th annual I think!) Last September
we had 5 MINIs join us - a good start I think.
Of course, if you are coming to the March event, you know to contact Karen [email protected] to reserve a transponder
    or a raceport http://www.hallettracing.net/track/rent-a-raceport/
Would be great to see some of you at in 6 weeks!

If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Isn't $215. a little high for one day at an event like this?

Seems like it. Maybe they expect fewer Mini's,and have to raise the cost?

I think sammm is on to something. The Face Book page says that the cap is 40 cars. I don't know if that is 40 MINIs plus the 10 Miatas, or 30 MINIs plus the 10 Miatas. I don't recall the price for Saturday only at Miatas@Hallett, but the cap there is 80.

Since you pay the Mini club directly, I suspect they are making a little off this.

Since the Miata event entry is paid directly to Connie, the amount paid is the actual entry fee.

And don't forget the 10 dollars, per person, for the privilege of driving through the gate.

I was looking forward to the new spring event, but I have no desire to pay the Mini club any extra, above the actual entry fee.

Don't forget that Connie gives the Miata event a huge discount. We pay much less than her normal rate.

I'm planning on two track days at ECR in March, so this event at Hallett doesn't work out for me anyway. The cost is bit of a shocker for me too. Add on the peripheral costs of food, gas, and lodging, and it's pretty expensive. That said, I love Hallett, and it would be worth that cost to me if I wasn't going to ECR.

This turned into an open track day at Hallett. My guess, I didn't count, there were about 15-20 MINIs and maybe 8-10 Miatas. Hence, they opened up the registration. In my group, Experienced, there was one MINI, 5 Miatas, a BMW 2002 (full race prep), a BMW 335d that had been modified and a Spec Boxster. In other groups, there were at least 3 911s, a '95ish track day Mustang, a Cayman, 2 corvettes, an S2000, 2 race preped 3 series BMWs and an Audi R8. The R8 was blazingly fast and sound very sweet. I'm sure I have forgot one or two cars.

I don't know of any problems with any of the groups. I know my group played well with each other.

Jackie Cooper MINI of Edmond had the Lucky Lucky Dumpling Company food truck come in to feed all the drivers. Lunch was outstanding.

    The weather turned out great.

All in all, I had a great time. I feel that my $215 was well spent.

Is there more than one ECR track day in March? Only one I'm aware of is the March 10 event.

There was the open track day on the 10th. There is an upcoming SCCA Time Trial (competitive) and Track Event (non-competitive) on the 31st.

I might try to do both of them. Still waiting on shipping confirmation of pads for the S4 though. Hopefully not a multi-week turnaround. Could be a "custom" order, but I don't remember it actually saying that. The Miata needs a new set of shoes and a little bit of work.
