My '92 did that one time it had blown a hose off the intake (soft thump), the thing wouldn't start until I hooked it back up!
OK, I replaced the timing belt about 10k miles ago so I don't think that's it.
I tried to start my 92 this morning and she always fires very quickly> But this morning she spun about one second and I thought started so I released the key.
I thought I heard a soft thump and the motor was not running as I released the key.
After that she would spin over and over but no attepmt to fire.
Any clues as where to start looking as I'm busy all week and the Miatas at Cavanaughs is this Saturday
Help.

Well rudedog did you find anything?
I took the diagram above and could not find anything misplaced.
I removed the oil filler cap, had Billie crank the motor over, and the cam was turning. Hurah.
She said that she thought it wanted to start so I replaced the oil cap and the Red Baron started, stumbled, and cleared up.
She drove it to work this morning as I had to make an emergency run to Waco with my dad and said it ran fine?
Now I'll keep my fingers crossed
