Who ships tires in Boxes? Mine have always just come banded together. Banding must be expensive!

It's called shipping and handling. I doubt you get any restitution.

On my bill it's called Freight. I'll call them in the morning. I don't expect restitution, just an explanation.

Like POS said, mine are banded together in pairs.

And they say I tilt at windmills...

You got some nice tires at a very good price. So what if Online Tires is making a little gravy on the shipping and "handling"?

Well, it's figured out. I actually opened their eyes. By shipping the tires in pairs with 2 tracking #'s the price goes up $37.08, which is a lot closer to the $45 they charged. Their story was they just make sure to cover all costs.

I tilt at windmills ??? Guess I'm too young for that one.

    Definition of Tilting:

    v. intr.
    1. To slope; incline. See Synonyms at slant.
    2. To favor one side over another in a dispute; lean: “His views tilt unmistakably to the Arab position” (William Safire).
      1. To fight with lances; joust.
      2. To engage in a combat or struggle; fight: tilting at injustices.

Meaning of the phrase "Tilting at Windmills":
Reference to Don Quixote (written by Cervantes), the story of an old -- and slightly delusional -- knight who, remembering his glory years ventures forth to right all wrongs... even if there aren't any wrongs to right. At one point, he spots some windmills, and convinces himself they are dragons. He charges in with his lance to do battle. In other words, he Tilts (jousts) at (with) windmills (dragons).

So in the context of this discussion, Sharpie is spending time and energy on something pretty insignificant (a few extra bucks on a shipping charge), with little or no chance of making in change in the current status (Onlinetires ain't gonna give him any money back).

Kids these days won't understand the Impossible Dream concept either; they've been told anything is possible.
