That is a hell of a deal. Now if I only had $1800 laying around to spare...
I have been talking to Jack about a group rate to join the Ranch and
have a sweet deal to offer. We need a minimum of 7 people to join
at a cost of $1800 initiation fee, regularly $2400. Monthly dues
would be $60, regularly $75 and the 30 minute track sessions would
be $15, regularly $20. Be setting this up, in case you ask, my fees
which are the higher of the two will go down to this level. You are
allowed to bring one guest per month.
If you have not been out there in a while they are adding a second
track, probably be in the Fall before it will be complete. The hold
up has been the cost of rock. Due to the cost of oil, there has
been an influx of oil drilling and they are driving the prices 2-3
times over what Jack had figured into the new track budget.
You may have heard about the new track in Houston, it is still
going. Jack said they wanted him to raise his prices, but Jack said
no. They may have some kind of guest pass setup for the two tracks.
If you have any questions please let me know, this would be sweet to
have a lot of Miatas on the track. There site is www.motorsportranch.com

You are likely correct, but it occurred to me that if he finds 5 guys but needs 2 more for the minimum.... and if Jack doesn't care what kind of car the person owns....Originally Posted by black roadster
Perhaps I should purchase another membership so I could NOT go out there twice as much

Good one Merv... It is not limited to Miatas, we just want to get, naturally Miata people involved. Looks like we may have 7 people commited, but we will hold off a week or so to see who else might be intertested. Email me off line if you are interested so we can stay intouch.

is there anyway to race on the track without being a member? if i had $1,800 i wouldnt spend it on that, but $200 for a weekend or somthing- ohhhhh yeah.
There are Driver Education events all the time offered through various car clubs. Fees run from $100-$300 depending on the event. This is not racing but an education event to teach you the line, car control and consistancy. Still a whole hellova lotta fun.Originally Posted by RX7-2nr
As for race events, you'll need a properly prepared race car with a full cage and run either Spec or Showroom Stock. MSR has some events for these classes but you'll find more at TMS and TWS.
If you want to race wheel to wheel, expect to invest heavy in tires, brakes, event fees, body panels and initial car setup.
