Hope you did not run over a small bear.
Maybe some trash around the axle area.
If you took the wheels off at the autocross check for loose lug nut.
Last night I'm driving home with the top down and I hear this ticking sound coming from the passenger side. Thinking maybe I ran over a nail I pull over and check the tires, roll the car forward and feel around both passenger side tires and nothing. I get back on the road, get up to 20mph and the clicks are getting faster as I speed up. I take the car out of gear and I still hear it. It almost sounds like its coming from the rear, but I am not for sure. After work today I am pulling the wheels off to take a better look.
Any ideas what this might be?

The only time I had that was a HUGE bolt in the rear driver's side tire...
Did you check for foreign objects in your tread?
You may end up needing to put the car on jackstands and spinning those wheels fast by hand.

Would a wheel bearing make that noise?

So I get home...determined it's coming from the rear. Put the rear up on jack stands, start the car and put it in fifth rev and take out of gear. No noise So I check the front tire and......wouldn't you know a big @ss screw with the washer attached is stuck just to right a 1/4 inch from the inside side wall. I hope this is repairable. My street tires are basically new. I'm just glad its not my Azenis'.
Well I'm off to discount tire to hopefully get it fixed for free...wish me luck.
