    Default Yea that's not good....

My sister had a run in with something on I-35 around Hilsboro this weekend.

Can this one be fixed, or should I start looking for a used rim......

I left some in the mississippi when I sank the rental Xterra. Wonder what happened to it.

Sorry havent had any since. Not a fan of SUVs any more either.

Sounds like there's nice story there!

As for the bent rim, Wheels America is rumored to work wonders...

1 out of 3 correct. Pretty good, but you still can't wear my hat at dinner tonight :viking:

I, too, would contact our resident wheel dude.

Jesus! What on earth did she hit - and how fast was she going - to do that kind of damage?

I once drove over a typical street curb at 45+mph in my old Tacoma to avoid an accident. That didn't bend the wheels in the slightest with 31" tires at 32psi. Based on the size of the tire in the pic, I can't even imagien what she hit to do that kind of damage, but I'd be checking for undercarriage/suspension damage to go along with the toasted wheel.

Oh, and I wouldn't bother to have one that's been bent that badly fixed. Time to call Nissan Heaven for some take-offs.

Knowing my sister as I do I’d bet she was going about 85-90mph, She said it looked like a block of wood, she missed it with the front wheel and got it with the drivers side rear.

Scary part is the tire looks fine, not cuts, no abrasions, nothing! Now I'd bet it has internal damage but just looking at you can't tell it had any issues.

I'd bet a Miata wouldn't have done quite as well as her Xterra did in this little mishap.

I hope you remind her not to be a TCB and just use the same ol' tire. After I hit the Grand Canyon of potholes with my BBS the inner liner of the tire looked fine until inflated!!

She is on a tight budget, she said something about not having any $$$.

I'd bet cash the tire is done; it's just amazing that it looks like nothing happened to it.

So it's looking like the general consensus is the rim is done, I've done some searching and it looks like I can get her a replacement rim pretty cheap. Tire Rack also has the tires on sale!

No, you certainly wouldn't want to do that. After all, SUVs are DANGEROUS!!!

They also cause global warming and are harmful to whales, or whatever your pet cause is.

It ain't the vehicles that you have to watch out for, Sparky... it's the drivers.

    It's true!!

In Addison a couple of weeks ago, I saw a Isuzu Rodeo run a yellow/red light and side swipe a Beluga whale that was making a right turn on a green arrow... the whale clearly had the right of way.

Took the wheel into a place in Ft. Worth this morning to get it repaired, should have it back Friday! If they can't fix it they are going to find a replacement wheel, all of this for under $100.00*.

(* Which is cheaper than Wheel America I might add!)
