Moved.
Back in the past there was some discusion on 1/4 Mile Times. I haven't been to a dragstrip in a long time, would be to give it a try again!
My mustang ran a 12.5 at 112 MPH on 9 PSI boost and it drives ok..
But I would be happy with a low 14..
Ho-Hum.......you're trying to compare apples to oranges. A Miata is a sports car, meaning that it handles very well. It was never designed to be fast in a straight line. A Mustang is/was a muscle car, doesn't handle very well but goes like a bat-out-of-hell in a straight line.
More comparisons:
Miata................................Mustang
-----................................--------
light weight........................heavy
nimble...............................plows
responds to all driver inputs...responds to throttle
4-wheel independent susp.....solid live axle
fun in the mountains.............fun at Sonic
Fun on road courses.............fun at drag strip
girls like them......................guys like them
Are you getting the point yet??????

I'm thinking I can get my Miata in the 13's
'08 Copper Red GT PRHT, '06 Accord EXL, '05 Dodge Magnum R/T, '01 V8 Dakota for pulling 2135 Chaparral.
And it can be done... but it won't be cheap. Miatas typically don't respond all that well to NA mods. I've seen some 150+whp NA Miata motors, but they're pushing the limit of what I'd consider a streetable engine (i.e., one that doesn't idle at 2000 rpm, one that you can drive on the street without earplugs, one that takes pump gas, etc.)Originally Posted by Tool
You want the easiest and cheapest way to improve your times? Put your car on a diet. Ditch the boat anchor 17" wheels, rip out all of the crap in the trunk, the stereo, the top, the a/c, etc. The lighter the car, the faster it'll be with the power it has now.
