Thread: Schools Out! *Snow Day*

Well, I'm one of the few in the office today - I expect the rest are hoping for an "ice day", but good luck to them, the roads coming in were pretty much clear.

Unlike last night - ventured out for some Southern Comfort (it's cold out there!) and there were people driving at 60 up the sheet ice street, weaving in and out of each other whilst sliding sideways. Or, the other extreme - the guy in front of me (about 50 yards, I leave a BIG gap in this stuff) who slowed to 5mph going UP the hill out of work... rear end goes left, rear end goes right, repeat!

It took me an hour and 35 minutes to drive from Flower Mound to Denton, about 22 mile trip, but the back roads I drive were at a stand still so pick ups could spin there way to to the top of each hill.

I finally lost my patience went into the on coming lane and motored by 6 cars waiting for this poor spinning s-10.
I was happy to see school closed so I didn't have to worry about getting hit by someone not being careful. I was in the Civic not the miata.

It's a bourbon-based liqueur, quite sweet, very warming, to be drunk sparingly - not something to get smashed on (bad bad head). You can have it on the rocks (my recommendation), with water, in coke, straight up, mixed with JD (tastes very nice), or in hot chocolate (very very nice indeed!).

It took Shelley and I an hour and ten munites from Lake Worth to Springtown, mainly due to over-cautious drivers. This morning, we left at 8:15 and there was very little traffic, but 199 was solid ice until we got to the Lake Worth bridge. We drove the Mini, which does great in this stuff.

I looked out the front window this morning, saw the driveway and street covered in ice, and decided I'd be better off telecommuting today. The CR-V is the perfect vehicle for this weather (full tread all season M+S tires, full-time awd, ABS, and traction control, plus six airbags and 5-star crash test ratings should the idiots get too close), but it hasn't moved a wheel since I drove home yesterday afternoon.

    I love my job.

YAY! Made it home... 3 1/2 hours to get from Waco to Lewisville.

We were stopped just South of West for 45 minutes for some unknown reason. That median sure did look tempting to cross - the access road was moving very well... but I'm glad I didn't do it. Once we started moving we passed a Boxter about 2 miles up the road that tried... and got stuck. Too bad my camera was in the trunk. DOH!

I-35 is almost bone dry once you hit DeSoto all the way to my exit, but south of that it has some real nasty spots.
