Congrats! How many miles to break it in?
Got a call from John Day this morning - the car is running. Woohoo!
Went and test drove it at lunch today, and it feels like a winner. I can't wait to put some miles on it and take it to the dyno to see how it compares to the old engine.

Lightness? What's that? I drive a PRHT!
He said go drive the $^#% out of it.Originally Posted by POS Racing
Seriously, he said it wouldn't make a difference - in his opinion - if I drive the car for 1000 miles at less than 5000rpm and varied the speed, or if I drove it straight from his shop to Motorsport Ranch and put some laps in. The only thing he did recommend was to change the oil at 500 miles and again at 1000 miles to get the inevitable break-in shavings out of the oil as quickly as possible.

Cool, so let's set up a dyno day. I'm interested to see how weak my car is!Originally Posted by altiain

Let me put some mileage on it first. Remember that this isn't a daily driver.Originally Posted by Miatamoto
I hope to rack up some mileage over the next month or so, but I don't anticipate reaching 1000 miles on it until sometime in March (and even then that might be pushing it - I've only driven it about 1500 miles since last July!). I'm not going to bother dynoing it before then, because it will take some mileage to get everything lapped in and making good power, even if John doesn't advise a particular "break in procedure" to seat the new rings.
