Finally!!!!
Its been one and a half years, but it will be worth the wait.
This a view to the west.
Just think in about 6 months I'll be moving out of the workshop and living in a "real" house!
Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...

That's some pretty fertile soil out there... looks like the Miata's are coming wild and early this year.
Too bad you don't have any trees :)

Come on now Paul... this is MME, not MTE... Where is the rendering of the Garage? Gonna go with a built-in lift?Originally Posted by Ataim
No kidding... what's the plan for the garage?
Four bays?
Five?
25 foot ceilings with a dual lift?
Water and air plumbing all around?
C'mon?!
Very cool! What burb are you building in?Originally Posted by Ataim
If that rendering is scale and that door is an average size then you have some friggin 28+inch subwoofers on those speakers behind the screen!

Burb? We are building on 45 acres 'bout 8 miles south of Azle.
Yes the rendering is to scale. The Woofers are 18", to handle from 5hz to 30 hz, with 12" to handle from 30 hz to 40 hz then the Klipschorns will take over from there. Adire Audio will be supplying the drivers and I'll be building the cabinets.
The shop is 30'X40'x10'. One overhead door and two regular doors. It will have air supply all around with a vacum system in one corner for wood working.
I'll render it in a bit. Got work to do now

Welllllll,
We are still waiting on the builders final price. It should be in today though.
But on another note, we have sold 25 acres off of the west end of the property and now have 20 acres left. We owe VERY little on the remaining property. We are thinking about selling the 20 acres and have a nice chunk of change to buy an existing house on 5 or so acres. If the house that we buy is in the 300-350k range we'll have a extremly low house payment (less tax and insurance). Which would be VERY SWEET.
It really come down to how much do we want to spend. 250k on new build on existing land or buy a larger existing house on less land with lower payment.

As a guy who has owned 10 different homes in 25 years, my advice is to buy the most home you think you can afford, then add 10%. That ten percent stretch will reward you greatly in the long run, and can actually double and triple itself over time. My spouse and I have actually built seven of those homes, and each time we built, we were able to add those items we didn't think of initially. My last NEW house was in Haslet, and it really pained me to leave it since it embodied most everthing I wanted in a house and property, from the acre plus lot, to the near 3K sq. ft. dwelling, the pool, and the 40x50shop large enough to park the RV, and 4 to 6 other cars in, along with tools, workbenches, and tire-changer....all surrounded by a white plank fence...it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it...
