    Hope it's not a job related injury... Workman's Comp is real particular about back injuries... They don't like to pay for those... at all... and the review board is 2/3's biased towards the employer.

    For back spasms, a good OTC remedy is an epsom salt bath (or you can soak a towel in it and just let the towel rest on your back) and if there is swelling, take some Advil.

    Stuff like Soma or Flexeril is usually written by a doc sparingly as those 2 meds become highly addictive after awhile. So I would only resort to those if your spasm are getting really bad, that's my two cents on that.
