A/C Compressors have a clutch that keeps your acc belt from running the compressor when you have the A/C off. Push the A/C button on the dash and the clutch engages. Mazda may not sell it as a separate part from the compressor.
Found this add on another site nad thought hmmmm, I have never heard of this before.

Titus is correct the clutch is a replaceable item, in some cases you'll need special tools to change out the clutch.
