Man... I'm glad to see you got your car back but I'm really bummed that you've had all these problems.
Upon washing my car this morning in the full light of day I have observed the following....
Radiator overflow hose improperly secured
A half inch gap in between the bumper and my drivers headlight, (meaning I will have to take this off and likley fix the styrofoam over the bumper)
Some electrical harness clip thingy is just dangling off the front of the motor, I have no idea where this is supposed to be.
and the worst part.....
A 3mm by 2 inch gash in one of my rims
I am sad and extremely pissed off at the same time rolled in with being happy that the car is back but wondering what the engine is like on the inside.
Seriously though I am pissed about the rim, the rest can be fixed
My recomendation, if you need engine work done take the motor out and put it back in yourself......I wouldn't do this again.

Thanks man.
So just now I go to pull the dipstick out and check the oil and the top of the dipstick comes off in my hand
I am about to head out for inspection.

Billy, that has happened to me too. The plastic is right next to the header and gets very brital. I bet mine happened at a mileage very close to yours too.Originally Posted by Billy Blaze

Like Majik suggested, you really should sign-up for a Mazdaspeed Motorsports membership. You've autocrossed at least twice in the last year, correct?Originally Posted by Billy Blaze

Hey POS I meant that as a compliment.
You do seem to always know the correct part #'s, costs etc.
I have a new problem that maybe one of you guys can help me with.
I failed my inspection reasons are.....
Catalyst......Not ready
Evap...........Not ready
EGR sys.......Not ready
Any suggestions?
Other than that the car really really runs great, i suppose that the sensors need to reset or something....so i will be driving a lot and hope the friendly officer that pulls me over after seeing the reciept for the rebuild and the reciept for the inspection attempt will understand that it's a catch 22 and let me slide

Drive it. The battery was disconnected. The ECU must now go through some drive cycles. Put 100 miles on it with a handful of trips (start, drive, stop, park). That should be plenty.Originally Posted by Billy Blaze

How many miles should I drive before I do the stop, park start drive again thing?

Here ya go Sparky!
I don't know if we came up with a definitive answer on exactly how many drive cycle you need to clear a not ready error.

Yeah, just make sure that it heats up to operating temps before parking it each time.Originally Posted by Billy Blaze

Yup especialy since the heat shield isn't on it....lol
So this is what a Miata is supposed to run like me like

Passed my inspection today thanks for the help.

Got thje heat shield back on and man it sure makes a difference, its easy to forget how much heat the header puts out.
Also got the power window working again thanks to Gary having an extra switch....the black part you flick with your finger has a small plastic saddle that flicks the white switch inside.
The front two prongs switch the window down the rear two switch the window up....my front two were broken off on the drivers side.
I had to replace the whole thing as it's one peice, so the actual switch on the inside that controls the windows is still good and I have a spare if anyone needs one, and it's very clean...no dirty contacts.

So when are going to see some pics of the new motor?
