Thanks for the comparison. As you say, the later RX8's probably have some of the earlier problems fixed. I know it's the same with the Mazda6. We have an early one, and although we like it a bunch, they have steadily refined it since. I find that DSC takes control too early, but I guess that's to prevent the average Joe from getting in too much trouble. It's great in the wet, IIRC, as it hasn't rained in so long!

Don't be too proud of staying with the Lone Star Miata Club. They don't drive very fast We need to get you out to Motorsport Ranch and see what you think about it on the track. I've run with a couple of them out there and wasn't impressed, but that's probably more "driver" than the car.
