My wife's '03 Tribute is closing in on 50K miles and I decided to take a look at the front brake pads last night. The pads will need replacement soon, but the rotors look like they will have to me replaced, also! The rotor surface is evenly, but deeply worn and there is a 1/8" ridge of unworn material around the outside edge where the pads don't contact the rotor. Does anybody know if this is normal? Kind of sucks if you have to replace the rotors with every pad change!
What's left of a '96 Miata with stock clutch.
My car exceeds my driving ability. That's the only possible explanation.

Probably right. I just saw a reference to "like BMW brakes" on a Tribute forum.Originally Posted by Miatamoto
