Frankly, I didn't even know it was possible on an engine not designed for it.
Well c16 is getting really expensive...Its around 12 dollars a gallon. Tony at
T1 tuned a civic the other day on E85 ethanol and it responds well to lots of boost. It is as forgiving as c16 on detonation, it burns cleaner, and at 1.70 a gallon it is dirt cheap. I think I am going to try and tune my car on this next week. There are a few drawbacks however. The gas burns so cleanly, that it needs an additive in it to keep it from being so dry. Also since it burns so cleanly, it uses 60% more of the liquid. This translates to limited power as we know of at the injectors duty cycle on pump or race gas. My 1000cc injectors and walboro will max out at 480 hp. I am just curious on everyones thoughts about this.

I think Flyin Miata has done some E85 tuning

I do believe Titus is correct on this one.

Actually, that is a list of vehicles that come from the factory that can use E-85. As long as you have a programable ECU and know what you are doing you should be able to tune it.
The problem with E-85 is that it has a lot lower energy density then gasoline. So you wind up using more E-85 to do the same amount of work and that cancels out the cost savings over gasoline.
I found a bit more information. This was specifically writen for the Megasquirt project but it is good information still.

Looked into toulene (sp?)? A lot of Supra guys I knew used to run this. They'd buy a whole drum and just mix it with premium.
'99 FMII + everything (sold!)
'97 FMII (previously)
Yep, never leave home without it. 1 gal Toulene to the tank of 93 octane equals 95 octane and insurance against detonation. Been using Toulene in gas since the 80's.

Same here...pricy insurance, but beats a blown motor. Besides, it tastes good...

Don't look...there's nothing down here for you!
Im pretty excited...Im going to make a new map for C16 with slightly more timing, and more boost. Then I am going to make the E85 map as a "street gas" map and try to make a conservative 475 hp on it.
