I am reminded of a quote: "I could give you a Porsche, and you still couldn't afford it". Call your local independent Porsche specialist and ask them how much it costs to replace a clutch in a 924/944/968. Then think about whether you'd want to spend $5k on a 20-year old used Porsche, or $10k on a ten-year old (or newer) Japanese car.

    Just my $.02.

There's a guy on this board that's been trying to unload a 944 for months now... he's absolutely tired of seeing the damned thing. This after he's spent perfectly good money on it...

The trick to keeping one of those cars cheap is doing the work yourself.
    1994 R-package - gone, but not forgotten.
1966 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. Restification in progress. or should I say De-RUSTification in progress?
    1984 Honda VF1100S. V4 Fury!

The set of extreme deep offset wrenches I bought that were necessary for working on the Porsche (and my VW) were ridiculously overpriced... and those were just wrenches! I've seen the prices on the specialty tools...

A Stock '89-'96 C4 Corvette (just buy a few spare water pumps )

The C4 is a good idea, I actually almost bought Bob Neff's car and a few different c4s. But everytime I end up deciding I would rather have a c5. Was it you or John that had the SS camaro? How much camber can you get into them stock?

Anyone have any thoughts on the corolla ae86? They are light (2200lbs), rwd, 120hp, in h stock, and come with an lsd stock...

I think it would be a fun car, but probably much more fun in street prepared form.

I'm sticking with the STX bimmer idea.

This might seem almost obscene considering the other vehicles already listed, but here's my input for dirt cheap, autox fun.

I have a buddy who put plenty of cars to shame with a '99 Hyundai Accent after a little camber and a set of RT-215 were added. It got great mileage off the course, too.
'90 "LE" available for purchase soon
2008.5 CWP MS3: JBR 70d trilogy engine mounts, short throw shifter & shift plate bushings; AST 4100 w/ 400lb springs f/r; JRZ camber plates
