Default Anyone have a Compression Guage I can borrow?

I want to test the compression on my 1.6 BRG, but dont really want to spend $40 for a compression guage. Does anyone have one I can borrow? I promise you will get it back.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you I wanted to ask the man who owns the gauge (Mark52) if it would be OK before I said OK!

I'd still like to test Sammm's but it seems as if he is scared! :P
Just to review you can use it! :P

You kids want to have a compression check GTG today in Euless?

Yes, missed that one. I am trying to hunt down my friend who's been driving the car, he is a busy man on the weekends. If I can get the car, then it would be great to test the car.... what time were you thinking?

Just got in touch with my buddy and the car should be back here at noonish. So anytime after that would be great.

My car exceeds my driving ability. That's the only possible explanation.

Here we go the numbers for today were!

    3Bean
    • #1 = 200 psi
      #2 = 200 psi
      #3 = 195 psi
      #4 = 210 psi
    Kags1969
    • #1 = 160 psi
      #2 = 155 psi
      #3 = 160 psi
      #4 = 170 psi
    Sammm
    • #1 = 190 psi
      #2 = 190 psi
      #3 = 175 psi
      #4 =190 psi
    Brock
    • #1 = 190 psi
      #2 = 185 psi
      #3 = 190 psi
      #4 = 195 psi

Plus we checked timing on several cars, and replaced the thermostat and radiator cap on 3Bean's car!

We all appreciate Mark52 lending us his compression gauge and moral support during today’s tests!

All in all a good day!

Wish I could've made it with MyAta today... She runs strong but I've always been curious on how strong the engine really is with almost 130k on her...

I'm in out at the company sales meeting...

Those are some interesting #s by all.

Nope didn't really see a need too since all cars had pretty even pressures across the board.

Three things can happen on a wet test:
    1. If the compression increases, the piston, piston rings, or cylinder wall may be worn.
    2. If the compression stays low, the valves may be stuck or seating improperly.
    3. If the compression in adjacent cylinders stays low, the cylinder head gasket may be defective or the cylinder head distorted.

Thanks guys for the use of the space and tools today! I really appreciate it.

ThreeBean and I did a little competitive "Italian tuneup" on the way home. Lots of fun.

    Once again, Thanks.

I've never been one for the drag races but I'm gonna have to try it!

We had a surprisingly good turnout considering the really short notice!

How many Miata owners does it take to check the timing!
