Alright, we've talked my friend down off the RX400h ledge. He is now considering an Acura TL, Infiniti G35, or a Lexus IS350. I'm fine with any of those choices. I'd get the G35 with a manual and the sport package, but he only wants an automatic so fine.
He's thinking about picking up a $4,000ish used van/minivan to haul band gear on the weekends.

I don't any of those 3 choices is a clear-cut favorite. I think he needs to drive each one for a day (ask for a 24-hour test drive) and see which suits him best.
I'm a big Acura fan, but I'd want to drive the other two as well...

Not the article... I mean is the potential buyer only considering a G35 Sedan, or is he thinking coupe? If the G35 Coupe is an option, it is my winner... if only the sedan, then my vote is different.
Well since he wants an auto anyway, I vote Lexus.. so nice.. but only auto in the 35 as I recall....

If your indecisive coworker has to have a slushbox, I'd go with the IS350.
However, for about the same money, a used E39 M5 has a lot more class and much larger cojones than any of the cars yuppie boy is interested in. I'll take mine in Le Mans Blue Metallic with black leather and the 6-speed manual, please.
