Assuming this comes with a manual, it looks like a great choice in the big sedan market. Certainly much more engaging than a 300C, and better looking than a Charger.

ok.....this is what i dont get LOL.

you always seem to be the one who posts the BIG AMERICAN V8 IRON. when you started talking about getting a new car i figured itd be a little older c5 vette, a camaro SS or the like. but no. you bought a Civic. LOL. they are neat cars, but just far from what i imagined you buying.

...now back to your regular scheduled programing...

I shopped Mustangs pretty hard before buying the Si. I'm actually just a closet fan of big American iron. Charger SRT-8s. GT500s. Now this G8. They get me all hot and bothered, but I like the experience of driving a small car. Go figure.

One of these days I'll bring home the big dog.

I was in a Mazda dealer showroom Saturday. Although I did not check the badging, the brochures for '07 model year say "mx-5 Miata". It seems they realized that people like cars with names.

Yea, if it wasn't for the fact that the SRT4 is based on a POS Neon, I'd a bought one instead of the RSX. For the low price the HP and TQ are hard to beat but then again it is a Neon. The last truly American car that I can think of that I would buy is probably a Grand National or a good old 442. I just haven't seen anything remotley inovative nor enticing come out of the big three in the last 10 years. Oh well maybe one day....

I will probably rebadge my RSX to a Integra Type-S. After all that's part of the reason I got a RSX, I just wanted another Integra. (For those that don't know, my previous car was a '90 DA LS aka 1990 Acura Integra LS, 2 dr, 1.8 L, non-VTEC.)

Yeah, my sis-in-law had a purple Neon and that damn thing would eat head gaskets like crazy. What a POS.

None, but the last unfortunate victims were a fire hydrant and a portapotty.

If I would have known how much the 04 GTO's were going for, I probably wouldn't have bought the RSX... Those things were going for dirt cheap when I bought mine

This G8 (I've heard it referred to as a G8 GXP also) sounds pretty sweet on paper, and the Holden looks pretty good. I wouldn't pay that much for a GM though; the GTO's were going for 50% of their selling prices w/in 2 years.

Going for half after driving off of the lot describes most of the Big 3 cars.

And this will make the car more appealing, how?

Personally, I think the Ford Five Hundred sounds more appealing, not that I'd buy either one.

I guess that the reason for changing the names of the cars to Alpha-numeric combinations is due to having nearly exhausted the American-english dictionary. Once a car name has been used, it is unusable by other manufacturers.

I mostly agree with you, but there have been some exceptions. The Z06 Vette comes most prominently to mind. The current Mustang GT is, IMHO, a very strong offering for $25k. I like the 300C and Charger SRT-8. The old SVT Focus was pretty cool, too. And don't forget about what Ford has done with Aston!

There have been some bright spots, but mostly you're right.

Saturn is bringing out a (literally) rebadged Opel Astra. If they would give us the 240hp VXR version then I would be excited about Saturn, too!

Technologically the Z06 and the Moostang GT are OK but IMHO the looks are so-so. Bleh. The old Stingray Vettes and the fox body Mustangs were cool though.

Oh and I'd deffinetly get a GMC Delorean if I could afford it or find one.

One of the main things that sways me away from domestics is technological inefficiency. (Read HP/Liter) That combined with 50 yr old suspension technology is why I would by an old Ford/Mopar/GM. At least back then they looked good. Now a days the bodies seem to thick/tall. Just look at the sleek but powerful lines on an old Charger.

Now compare that to a modern Charger SRT8

I'll addmit the new one has an agressive front end, but the rest looks like a brick. So lets look at a stylish brick of a car such as the Skyline.

    Agressive front facia: check
    Bit-of-a-brick styling: check
    Performance
    2007 Dodge Charger SRT8 (all out model): SRT-engineered 6.1-litre HEMIĀ® V-8 producing 425 hp (317 kW) and 420 lb.-ft. (569 Nm) of torque, 4160 lbs

    1999 Nissan Skyline (R34 base): Inline-6, Twin-turbo, 2.5 L, 280 hp and 216 lb.-ft. of torque, all wheel drive, all wheel steering, 3672 lbs

aside I think I'll take an 8 year Skyline.
