That stinks...
After the Dallas PD did an excellent job in doing absolutely nothing to help with the anonymous dent left on my driver's side door, I've run into something even worse: someone used a steak knife to cut open the roof of my car, climbed through it, and stole the JVC headunit as well as all my spare change.
Since the stereo was a hand-me-down from a loathed ex-girlfriend, I'm not too upset about it. But new roofs I've seen are really pricy - and mine has a glass window and defroster in it.
Since my car's already looking ghetto enough with a huge dent in the side, broken armrest (also from the burglary) and a hole where the stereo used to be, using duct tape to "repair" my roof seems like the only likely solution for me right now.
Does anyone know of a better way to repair a roof without getting a new one?
you can get another piece of leather and some 3M interier glue from a autoparts store. Just glue that piece of leather over the rip. That may work depending on how big said rip is. Or you could always call around to auto upholstery shops and see how much they would charge you to recover it. I would think that would be a cheaper solution to purchasing a whole new top.
That does stink...depending on how bad (long, ragged) the cut is, you may be able to patch it up with Goop. I used it on one of my old tops and it worked great.
I am sorry to hear that. Same thing happened to me couple of months ago.
I hope the cut is not too serious and can be patched up.

That sucks man.
On a side note, when I started reading the title "More Bad Luck...", I was expecting it to be posted by Adam. Then I saw "..Roof Cut Open.." and thought "Wheew, the RSX has made it through another day"
*Edit* Now that I think about it, it is pretty early in the day.

You could try a few iron-on patches (interior) from Michael's

Wow, that does suck. It always reminds me of what my dad said about having a convertable. Never Ever Lock the Door. If they want in they can easily get in. So, don't keep anything in there worth stealing to even tempt them. And if they just want to look then ehh, thats why its unlocked. (Me of course PSH, the Hell with that I'm gonna lock my door) BTW you might want to check your insurance, since its not a moving violation you might be able to make a claim without having your insurance going up. (If you have full coverage)
Blah blah blah!
I haven't had my car for over a week...
Back on topic.... you can get a piece of vinyl that is slightly larger than the slashed section, and glue it from the inside. Then, glue the top from the outside to the patch (hoping that makes sense). It should get you by for a while, and keep you dry.

oh to OP, I have a buddy that took a black soft top off his 2001. no tears or the sort. its located in Midland, TX. its on the frame still, but you'd need a new rain rail (we kinda tore the ends when removing it)
