No, one more and the deal goes through... a few others can join in too if they can do it before BR calls it done and orders 'em.

    Agreed,

Mainly, I was asking the question on funding deadlines since it appeared that we would be able to make the minimum required order. I did not intend to make it a "10, that's it now order!" thing. Just wanted to get an idea of when BR needed the funds so that I/we would know when I/we needed to front him the money by.

Wow! This turned out to be more popular than I thought!!!

I updated the original post and will do so as needed.

I placed the cut-off date as Friday, March 16th, 2007. I figure this would allow for a few late comers but still get the product here before it gets too hot.
It will give Bean some time to get the BUR unpacked too.

I've never done a group buy before. I have a couple of questions.

PayPal - I think PayPal charges the receipient fees. How do I know what type of PayPal Account I have? They have three types. Personal , Premier and Business. The fees vary depending on the type of account.

Personal fees are 4.9% + $0.30 USD (limit of 5 transactions per 12 month period) If so, PayPal payment would need to be $34.92

Premier and Business are 2.9% + $0.30 USD. Payment would need to be $34.26

Not trying to make any money off of this but I don't want to be stuck with a bunch of fees either.

    Delivery
    - Obviously the Wednesday night crowd will be easy. For you West-Coasters, what would be the best way to get it to you? Anyone want to be a liason to distribute all the scoops over there? Maybe an East Coast AutoXer can bring them to an event.

I am thinking night time driving. When it is still warm, but the sun isnt beating down. The footwell gets really warm with the tranny and exhaust so close. Hopefully this will keep air in that area and keep my legs cool. If not I guess we will see a rash of them on the classifieds.

I'm skeptical too. But, all the cool kids are buying one, and Bean is buying one, so I may sign up.

Coolest indeed. Not much heat to worry about in the footwells when your car is in a box.

Still trying to figure that one out. I can take PayPal if you cover the fees.

Also, I need an AutoXer to volunteer to deliver to the west si-ide folks!

Basically PayPal fee is two dollars so if you want to PayPal me $35, PM me.

I figure any airflow is better than no airflow.

If you read the comments on the pointy board he has sold over 600 of these things and I haven't read anything truly negative regarding the performance of it. Most people rave about it and there have been few complaints.

    Most common complaints

Appearance - It is certainly function over form.
Bugs sucked in - Resolved with a bug screen on new units and a retrofit kit on the older ones.
Blowing off - Resolved if you use the supplied fasteners.
He even replaces blown off ones for about $10 and has only had to replace 10-15 with no repeat incidents.

I know a few folks have said these are wine and cheesy, silly, ugly, don't work, whatever but not from anyone that has actually bought one.

I'm looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about. I love the top down but won't be miserable to just have the top down. If this keeps me any cooler on hot days, I'll consider it a success.

Put the hardtop in storage today and I'm thinking this doo-dad might be a good idea... count me in and let me know when/where I can pay. I can do PayPal or cash - it matters not.
