Thread: how fast have you gone?

  1. #21

    Default

146 in my old mustang gt, 148 in a taurus sho.

  2. #22

    Default

    115 in my '03 Ram 3500
    105 in my Saturn SL2
75 in my '72 CJ5 (It could go faster but not sure I could keep it on the road.)

I think the best was 95 MPH in the Ram for 2 hours in an emergency run from Clayton, OK to McKinney, TX. I was pulling 7K lbs. of Jeep and trailer behind me. I was trying to get a friend to DFW to catch the last flight out to California. His dad had a massive stroke in Sacramento and he was trying to get there before he passed. The interesting part is it could have gone faster.

He never said what speed limit he was talking about. Could have been the one that is posted on the sign , or it could be the one one the tachometer.

I think the fastest was aroun 145 in an FD... Its amazing how fast you slow down from 145mph in and FD with a set of MONSTER brakes.

Fastest I have gone was when I was about half a car in front of a Kawasaki 636. He hit his rev-limiter and I still had a little bit left, but we both slowed down, exited, and talked for a bit. His speedo said 158, mine said 152, I don't know who was right.

I no longer have the need for speed.....

...anywhere but on a race track! Fastest I've been in Speedie, in SSB trim, with a draft, at Daytona was 130mph. I suspect I was close to that at Laguna Seca in the Barber Dodge, but those things don't have no speedometers! Almost forgot about a students Viper at TWS several years ago.....145, being very conservative

I know GM cars are not the best but my windows were fine up to at least 120mph. Also, I had all the LG suspension bits so it wasn't too floaty til ya past 120mph.

Probably could chalk it up to the "variance of mass production"... don't get me wrong, it was a great car, but a little rough around the edges.

I still want another one though...

    500+ in an airliner too.

On solid ground, 125mph in a Miata on a long downhill. Don't much feel the need for speed. I'd rather be carving the corners.

It's quite an experience to get near 200mph in the ground, I only wish I had the money for a car that can safely near a speed close to that.
