i found some at autozone... they're a bit different but they work and they are black...
Hey guys. I have one last part I need to get to be ready for my interior conversion.
It's those little buttons that hold down the carpet behind the seats. I don't know what they're called but they're about an inch across and a b*tch to get off... I need a bunch of black ones, so if anybody has some, let me know

A normal kitchen fork works great for popping them off. I grabbed some during one of my trips to Mazda Heaven.
I hope they work better than my kitchen forks! I still have the bent one sitting on my work bench. :)
My dad has a special tool for removing those kinds of clips. I have had pretyy good luck using a putty knife that I slotted with a grinder. Or you can try to use a small set of needle nose pliers to pull them out. I think the small ones I have came from Sears and were only a couple of bucks each. The best place to get them is from Mazda Heaven. I usually get some clips, and a variety of nuts and bolts when I go.
As for the autozone ones, I used some of those when I added the carpet over the gas fill / vent cover. They were shinny and the ones on the back deck are more of a matte finish. But they do work.
Good Luck with the conversion.
