    Default Footwell Subwoofer Box for NA & NB

    I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea but I have had some interest in making these.

    $125

    Price is for a wired and ready box that holds an 8" woofer. It fits in the passenger side foot well on LHD Miatas. Fits 1990-2005. 1990-1993 is a tighter fit because ECU is also in foot well but it does fit.

    It does take up some passenger leg room but is easily removed and transferred to the trunk if needed. Several folks on the forum have heard the box and were impressed. Completely stealth install.

    An FYI for everyone about the carpet color.

    I took pictures in a tan interior of a 01-05 to show folks the color of the carpet doesn't matter like you might think if you have floor mats.

    Here is the box in the foot well.

    Here it is with the floor mat in place.

    Outside the car, looking in with the door shut.



    As you can see, the color of the carpet is not critical unless you don't have or use floor mats.

    The trouble with offering carpet options is there are several different tans, 10AE blue and 93LE red. I will never match those colors to everyone's satisfaction so I decided to go with Henry Ford's wisdom and offer it in any color as long as it's black. I can build boxes without carpet and you can add your own if you prefer. Price is the same either way.

    Have you tried the fit in an NC?

    Will they be SCCA-legal?

    Have you noticed the passenger foot well in the NC? It's a wonder people can fit their feet in there!

    As for SCCA legal, I've submitted the proper forms and I'm waiting to hear from the sanctioning bodies. Can you believe there is nothing in the rule book about foot well sub woofer boxes? WTF?

    I generally have a car seat in the passenger side, so leg room isn't really an issue in my car.

    New batch is just about done. I need to paint them and carpet them which I should have done this week.

    I've now sold several and everyone seems pleased with the quality of workmanship on these boxes. Good thing too as I take pride in building them.

    I've been busy this weekend!






    This is a lot of work! It's also a big friggin mess. Good news is all the wood is cut.

    Assembly takes time too as I still need to glue, nail, caulk, paint, carpet and wire the boxes. I will have 7 boxes for sale within a week or two.
