I think you'd have to flash the ECU, but I'm not positive.
I am putting together a 94 1.8L motor on a 1990 harness.
Looking for the lowest cost method to raise the rev limiter about 500 rpm, now that the car is ultra light and slightly more aero.

I had to overclock the ECU on my 1.6. It raised the rev limiter, but killed what little bottom end that I had. A/F mixture gets all jacked. It was not worth it in the end.
