Thread: How much do you think my car weighs?

  1. #1

Default How much do you think my car weighs?

I was going to piggyback on the thread asking about scales - but I don't want to hijack that thread with people posting guesstimates of my car's weight.

I just got Dynolicious for my iPhone and it wants me to input my car's weight. I've got a rough guess of my own, based on published curb weight and assumptions of how much mass some of my added parts contribute. But I have no idea how close I am.

So what's your guess? I will probably follow though with this thread by taking my car to the scales in a week or two. Closest guess to the actual weight gets...um...bragging rights.

Here are the mods that I think might be relevant to the weight discussion:

    1999 LS
Hard Dog Sport roll bar - Double Diags & Harness Tabs
Factory hard top (soft top still installed)
Enkei RPF-1 wheels with Toyo TR-1 225/40-16 tires

Racing Beat sways front and rear
    Racing Beat cat-back exhaust
    Powerframe and rear-diff reinforcements
    lightened stock flywheel
    MP62 s/c
    TDR FMIC
    Poorly tacked-on factory spoiler

2450 is about what I'm guesstimating, as well - without me in the car. Any other guesses?

Come out to the SWDIV this weekend. I am working impound. We can put it on the scale and see total weight, L-R and F-R.

    Also sell me your Miata.

There was a silver one with almost the same specs for sale here not too long ago. Not sure if it is still available.

My '94M was 2524 lbs on the SCCA scales at the Fort Worth National Tour. Corner weigths, 49.5%-50.5%.

City of Irving dump. I weighed at Hallett and got the same #. You can pull up on it and you'll see your weight before they can bitch at you...but they were cool to me about it.

I would bet, based on another Black roadster that it weighs in at 3572.

But really, there is a public scale in Lewisville on main street near the old downtown area. Any grain elevator will probably give the weight for free.

Thanks for the tips on scales. Still getting around to it. The wife is supposed to give birth this week so that'll probably put a damper on it for a little bit.

Or maybe it'll be an excuse to get out of the house for an hour :)

2,175 this weekend for my '93 with little gas, empty trunk, and no driver (with a lot of gas). Stock wheels, but 225 tires.

I don't know what went wrong on the last weigh in, but Saturday my car was 2274 lbs. Like jrj512 said, very little gas and no driver. But, I did have my helmet, camera and shoes in the car and 225/50 Kumho's on stock wheels.

I feel better about this weight being right. jrj512 and POS Racing's cars were on the scales with in minutes of my car. All three weights were close.

    LOL!

Where exactly? I need to weigh my lightened miata to get a baseline.
