Thread: Repainting hood, fenders, front bumper, etc.

Default Repainting hood, fenders, front bumper, etc.

Nexus Flux and I are going to be disassembling the front half of my car for a respray today. If anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated. I've never removed the front fenders or the front bumper, plus we could use some help wet sanding these items as well.

Special thanks to William, Shawn and Bo for coming out and lending their help with the disassembly and sanding of my bumper and fenders. Kamil has done an excellent job so far. Our only problem has been the high amount of humidity. It seems to have effected the hood, unfortunately. We will assess our options when it is finished drying. Pics will be up soon.

No, the funny part was the look on John's face when I kicked the piece of cardboard covering the floor to show him the contrast between the clean and the oversprayed concrete. What looked like pink suddenly changed to beet red.

Well........I bit the bullet and put it all back together, minus the fender braces. They were out of stock, but nobody let me know last week, so I won't have them until friday, most likely.
I haven't had a car for four days and I've got crap to take care of, so the car is mostly put back together. Anyone that is interested in seeing it will do so at the wed night meet, tomorrow night.
The car looks nice and shiny and I'm pleased overall. It definitely looks better than before. I'm planning on clay bar the rear half.
Now all I need to do is have the doors and rear bumper painted to match!

I put the fender braces on today. It's getting easier and easier to take off and put on the fenders.

    Here are some pics.

I'm still in the process of seeing the improvements. I haven't had the opportunity to test them thoroughly.

I did notice an increase in steering feedback. The front end doesn't have as much of a tendency to understeer because of the chassis flexing in a hard turn.

I was in sachse today and I can usually get the rear end to flick out at this specific intersection. When I tried to do it the car just stuck when I flicked the steering wheel. So, I tried to force the slide a little by continuing in the throttle, and an understeer characteristic occurred.

I'll have more conclusive results when I do some high speed "roundabout" testing.

I don't know if I'll be able to tell a difference there, since I have the flex's.
