Dish Network Question
I'm asking here because i know all you guys are pretty smart (you do drive a miata :) )
I had a brain fart last night while i was at my moms. She has 4 tv's and 2 dish receivers that are 2 tuner to run all 4 tv's. Well, she only watches 2 tv's in her house and was thinking of getting rid of one of the tuners.
my question is, could i take the other tuner and get my own dish on my roof and use it off her account? i could pay half her bill and she could get more channels.
does this make sense?

I don't think it will work.
No because they dial in to the recievers and make sure they are both plugged in at the same phone line. If you go too long with one of them unplugged or removed, they will automatically charge you for two seperate packages.

I only have one of my two receivers plugged in to a phone line... they asked about it and I told them I didn't have a phone line anywhere near the receiver. It hasn't phoned home in 5 years now. No issue whatsoever... that being said, I don't order pay-per-view off that set either...

It's not illegal. I pay for both my receivers and neither is plugged into any phone line. It's not necessary to have it plugged in for DirecTV's purposes.
