Exclamation Valvoline Syntec Brake Fluid - FYI

Wasn't able to find my fav brake fluid, so I e-mailed Valvoline the following question.

Did you guys discontinue the Syntec Brake Fluid? I can't seem to find it anymore.

    Got a reply back
Valvoline Synthetic Brake Fluid is still available, just not in the SynPower name any longer. It will simply be known as Valvoline Synthetic DOT 3 & DOT 4 Brake Fluid.

Thanks for clearing that up as I really liked the old fuild and was a little perturbed when I could no longer find it. I tried giving them a call but they are closed on the weekend.

However I did see a discrepancy between the old and new temp limits. IIRC there is a 70 degree temp difference between the old and new dry boling points. I think the old stuff boiled at 550.

I have an old bottle here and it says "high dry-boiling point of 500°F".

If there is a big demand for the older stuff, I have an unopened bottle I'll let go for a suitably high mark up.

Unless you track the car the high boiling point is not needed for everyday or autocross.

I ran into the same thing running to 3 different auto zones. They told me they changed the packaging and it's no longer called Synpower. They did have a smaller bottle of the older synpower packaging and the dry boiling temps are slightly higher on the old stuff. I just went with the new stuff and so far so good.
