    Default Aftermarket cruise control

After driving to and from Mineral Wells this past weekend with no cruise and my knee aching, I am thinking about adding cruise to my car. I checked the 'garage' on the board and found a write-up about this unit -

Any of y'all ever installed aftermarket cruise?

    Comments/opinions/bashing are all welcomed!

I wonder if you could get a better deal on an OEM unit?

Lot of folks want to pull the cruise for some reason; eBay might be a place too look. The OEM seems to be a pretty tough unit; mine is still working at 150,000 miles!

I proudly use my cruise every chance I get!

I'm going to give Mazda-Nissan Heaven a call too. Wonder how hard it would be to install without instructions?

Probably not too bad with a cruise-equipped car to use as a guide... Didn't I see POS or onething or one of those other rich guys with a shop manual?

I think Mathews2004 has a shop manual for our vintage cars! :afro:

and I got a second one with my second Miata! One is smaller with a brown cover and the other is a 3" thick 3 ring binder.

Just talked to the guy at Mazda Heaven - he's got a '96 with factory cruise. $75 cash if I pull it. :P

Now to figure out what I need to pull...

How can you tell if it works???

Hey Mathews2004 is there a section in your fancy factory books that show how the cruise is installed???

That's a good question. I did some reading during lunch on the board. It seems that some of the early ('90-'93) cars did not come pre-wired for factory cruise. I may be better off with an aftermarket unit.
