Default In car from the Texas Time Trials event...

Well, I made it back from my first event with TexasTimeTrials.com at the Mineral Wells airpark. I'm real impressed with the setup of the event. I think autocross is a great way to teach car control and alot of other aspects of driving, my only problem with it is the usual < 4min of seat time followed by the >1 hour of shagging cones in the sun. But TTT is not autocross! The reason I liked this event so much was the fact that the course was setup more towards a roadcourse with flow rather than a violent, tight turn, slalom to slalom, typical autocross course. When running there is one car on track at a time and you actually run laps. It is at your discression as to when to end your run session. You could run 20 laps if you look over and see no one waiting in line. A normal run was right at 5 laps. Most of the time I would come off around then even if no one was in line to conserve tires, brakes, etc.

Towards the end of the day I was running consistant 1'04.6x's to 1'04.8x's. I was pretty happy with the times and was right at 2 seconds behind the Corvette's on Hoosiers.

    On to the videos.

    Run 2:

Run 3... This was by far the most challenging run in terms of control. I was playing around with braking points, left foot braking, and trying to be a little more aggressive with trailbraking.
Although this is probably the most fun video to watch, it's also the slowest with the most mistakes.

Overall, I would recomend these events to anyone that's wanting to have some cheap fun with more than enough seat time... and no working the track! Most people were packing up early because they ran so much. We ended up getting done by 6pm. Also, I'd be more than happy to help out newer drivers that would like to go. I ended up instructing a driver at this event and was thrilled to see the improvements and fun he was having.

The next event is May 23rd. I'll post a new thread for it soon. The gold beast will likely be there for those who didn't get to witness it awesome-ness:

I do not think I could do this. From looking at the video, I would get lost. Where do I go next? I will just stay at the back of the pack...
