Default BMW Event at Mineral Wells 03/13/04

Anyone going to the first BMW event of the year?
    http://www.lscbmwcca.org/autox/

I was going to try a set of Kumho 710's for the first time at this event.

Hope some other Miata pilots are there so I can compair times.

I knew it! I should have told you I hated them.

General, you do know you've got to be a LSBMWCCA member to run their autocrosses these days, right?

I'll be out of town this weekend, but I'm looking forward to a little head-to-head match at the 1st SCCA event next weekend.

I think you still get 1 freebie at the BMW events each year... Maybe the general will let us know when he gets back, having stomped them all to death with his stock Miata. Bwuhahahahaha.

Yes I know membership is required now but they put the fun back into autocrossing. I will not be at the 1st SCCA event.

Maybe someone else can make the BMW event.

Sorry to hear that, General. I was really looking forward to a chance to see how I stack up against "the man to beat" around here before heading down to Houston for the Tour.

BTW, if you want to see someone put the fun back into autocrossing, you really need to come and join us at one of the S2000 autocrosses this season - they put on arguably the best "bang for the buck" events in DFW (imho), and their course layouts tend to be much more challenging and entertaining than the LSBMWCCA ones, favoring handling and technique over horsepower and "gimmick" course elements (again, imho).

I'm not planning to run any BMW events this year... I just don't want to have to be a member to run. They do put on a nice event, but I'd have to agree with altiain... the North Texas S2000 folks put on the best AX around.

Yea it's definatly not the SCCA that puts the fun in AutoX.

College Boy and I are thinking about it. It will be a weather decision made in the morning.
I agree on the fun factor, the SCCA is a beating. Too many cars.

What can I say... I went but wimped out due to the increasing rains. They had a good turn out of AWD cars and BMWs. The course would have been a blast in the dry.

Well guys I joined because I thought all of you would be doing their events like you did last year. I did not join last year as it was mid season. But the S2K group has done a good job of putting on events from what I hear.

So I don't have any feedback to provide about Kumho 710's except that they don't hydro plane on the trailer.

College Boy and I wimped out also.

I joined and Joe is a member also. I plan on running several events with them this year.

I'm a member, too... I'll be out there when it's not raining (and I'm not installing the 7 month over-due splash guards on my VW).
