The top of the spring is riding on the OEM top hat. The NA Variant of the miata doesn't have the coolie spring isolators like you may have seen on the NB.

Thanks for the illustration. Been to long since I turned a wrench on a NA.

You could not talk Fair into a free set of AST's? You would have a
    nationally competitive car again. :)

The off season is no fun... That is why we give you a hard time.

    D. A suspension bump stop is considered to be performing the function
of a spring. Therefore, the compressed length of the shock at the
initial point of contact with the bump stop may not be increased from
    the standard part
, although the bump stop may be shortened for the
purpose of installing non-standard shocks. Bump stops installed ex-
ternally and concentric with the shaft of a shock may be drilled out to
fit a larger diameter shock shaft. Bump stops may be substituted for
the purposes of installing non-standard shocks.
I have read the rules and they are neat!

Here is the dimensions of the stock bumpstop that was fitted to the 1994-1997 Mazda Miata. Please note the overall lenght of the bumpstop is 63mm.

So a bump stop that is less than 63mm will not increase the initial point of contact from the standard part.

If I am wrong please let me know. That is one of the reasons I posted this on the interweb.

When your parents said, "We'll talk about this, later," was it ever good?

You guys are funny. I really enjoyed my 95' R on the stock shocks.
Now a lot of testing of that package since then have made it even better.

A good alternative for the FCM linear is the Honda 51722-SE0-003 bumpstop. It retails for $6.88, but streetprice is around $5.

EDIT: I changed the part number from the longer Civic part, to the short Integra part that's in the photo.

Now the Civic drivers have something to protest if you win Tire.

What is the measurement of those stops? Are they equivalent to the FCM 36mm?

    Fronts are done!

Figure I may do the rears tomorrow if we get a snow day.

They are almost perfect replacements for the FCM 36mm.

Looks like I know what I'm getting for my suspension then. That will save me $50.

    Have you personally used them?

Yes. On a set of non-adjustable, aluminum bodied Bilstein shocks.

Wrong part number though - try 51722-SE0-003
