The Texas Trade Up Appliance Rebate Program officially begins today at 7 a.m. CT, when rebate reservations will be accepted online at www.texaspowerfulsmart.org or via toll-free call to 1-877-780-3039.

All the rebates are gone - now starting a waiting list.

We replaced one of the 2 ac units in our house last week. we looked into the rebate program. It was pretty specific as to what qualiified. We would have had to go to a less efficent AC unit to qualify for the rebate with the new coils we already had. We chose the higher SEER unit. Still will be able to write off the AC on taxes next year and the unit we bought will more then make up for the loss of rebate in utility savings.

Interesting...looking to replace my AC (heat pump) and the rebate offers up to 1600 cash back...must be Energy Star or CEE qualified - 14.5 seer or greater...the whole point was to get a more effecient unit :shrug:

To get the full $1600 you have to install a 21 SEER unit wich = $$$$$. We went with a Lenox 16.5 Seer unit (XC16). If we could have made it work the rebate would have been about $650. What stopped us was the coils we put in last spring that replaced the leaking ones would not give us the rating that was required to qualify for the rebate. We would have had to spend another $3000 to replace the coils with ones for a slightly larger unit to get a $650 rebate. Did not make any sense to do that.
