I'm just guessing you needed to be a member of the SCCA. I have no clue why I was getting it.......

I received a free issue or two as well. It was a very pretty magazine. It had almost no real content (like tailchaser mentioned). It was clearly written for people who (1) had 14.3 tons of money, and (2) didn't want to know that grease even exists, much less get any under their manicured fingernails :P . And the "parting shot" - editorial on the back cover... the one that's supposed to make sure you are hooked -- was about radio stations. Nothing car related at all.

    I passed. Pretty pictures though...

Scott Black is one of the editors (I think)... we did a story out at TMS once where the Cobra club was doing some sort of charity event. He was out there with his DeTomaso... beautiful car. He's a nice guy but, I have to agree...his readers are way, way, way, way (did I mention way) out of my league.

Hmm... I've been an SCCA member for years, and I've never gotten any free issues. Or any issues at all, for that matter.

Maybe they know I don't have 14.3 tons of money?

Yeah, they must have mistaken me for POS Racing when they sent me my free copy.

I've been getting it bi-monthly for a year and still haven't subscribed. I must say though that their last two issues have had much better content. I agree, it appears to cater to those with larger wallets...

Well, the reviews are not that encouraging, but I might try a few issues. I read the Shelby issue and it was pretty cool. Also I liked the destinations section. Very "Wine and Cheesy"!

I get it (not free) and have enjoyed each issue more than the last (I can dream). I also get Grassroot Motorsports (which I enjoy considerably more than Texas Driver) to cater to my broke side, but I like the focus on Texas in TD.

I'm uncertain as to why it comes free, but I'll take it as long as they send it...
