Default Best routing for Sub woofer wiring from head unit?

I am in the process of looking at upgrades to my cd stereo in the M and saw a really nice
sub woofer 10" and cabinet that fits in the left corner of the trunk. Ok so whats the plan
as far as wiring and routing them to this part of the trunk ? the car is soft top 91...

If you have done this before please chime in....

All you need to run is your RCA cables since your battery is in the trunk. I ran my cables on the drivers side since I put my self-powered subwoofer on that side. There is lots of info on miata.net about buying and installing subwoofers.

I ran wires down the passenger side just so I could have easier access to the tunnel at the front corner of the trunk. I guess it works either way!

I probaby would have run mine down the passenger side, but the TCB Wally Mart cables I bought were only 12' long. You really need 15' of RCA cables.

Thanx motorollow ! I will be asking around the site for details. I'm picking out my new head unit to go with the sub. Looking at the kenwood KDC 238
I think it is. It fits the opening and has 22 watts RMS power plus Sub out put, I have a similar unit in my frontier , power and quality sound is awesome
    With 6.5" front speakers.

I am looking to add a sub also wondering wear you saw the left side enclosure for the trunk? I already have an amp, some component speakers, and a new headunit I just have to pick out a sub and enclosure and wire it up but I can't find a good place to put it.

I saw the enclosure on the crutchfield web site. There are others too. Just do a search for subwoofer for miata. Should net something.
If I can find the exact one I saw for the 10" woofer i will link you up.

I saw the ebay one but from what I can tell it is a perfect fit for the NA but wouldn't be so snug in my NB. I may just build a box instead of trying to buy one, that way i can take up as much or as little room as I want.

The trick to building a sub box is the total volume inside in square inches, or cubic inches. It needs to be a certain size for each different sized speaker.
Most times the premade boxes are all figured out. No slide ruler needed or math degree to figure it out. Just buying all the individual components and then
having to do all the labor and soldering takes time. I did find one for both na and nb cars if you want to hook up with him let me know...
I will have mine soon i can send you some details on the exact size of the box. It comes with an acustic audio 10" sub speaker.

cool I would appreciate it. I already have sub picked out that I found a really good deal on. It is a 10" kicker solo classic normally about a 250 dollar sub that I am getting for much much cheaper so my box needs to be about .66 cubic feet.

I will be starting on the mods to the system this week. the rest of my parts will be here tomorrow.
Will take some time to get all the ring terminals, crimps, fasteners, ect. I'm going to make a nice
mount for the jvc amp in the trunk. Should be cool. I already removed the spare tire (donut )
    Cant use it anyway.

Well Here is what I came up with. Amp is located behind the passenger seat.

Finished custom sub box today and I am really happy with how it turned out.

yeah it takes up about a 3rd of the trunk, but it is nearly 1 cubic ft volume and sounds just right so I was fine with the loss of space.

What are you doing to control battery drain ? I here these subs and amps will kill the little sealed battery in no time ....
Is this where we get to experiment with Capacitors ? Or go bigger battery ? The stock 91 alternator is how many amps?
Currently will be running JVC 20 watts RMS x4, pair of Sony Explode 5 1/4 " , JVC 130 watt bridged amp and 10" Acoustic Audio Sub. Not sure how much drain i'll see in this setup what do you think ?

Frys electronics sells a capacitor that they have on sale for $30 occasionally. I had to buy one for my son's Civic to keep the lights from dimming when the sub hit hard. Easy install, but the capacitor is rather large.
