Thread: PCA Maverick Region AX #4, Pennington Field, 6/6/10

Default PCA Maverick Region AX #4, Pennington Field, 6/6/10

I plan on going, anybody else?

    More info at http://mav.pca.org/Events/AX.asp.

I have seen 3 of the courses they may use, 2 of them look good. The one I don't like has a pivot cone. I hate pivot cones.

I plan to be there. Regardless of the course, I will be there early to help set it up.

I know the course with the pivot cone (I designed it) and it presents an interesting challenge because you have to determine the best line with little to assist you. The same turn could have cones for a line that is more defined and you would not complain. By not having any definition, then it is up to you to determine the line and make yourself abide by it -- the pivot cone will pull you in at the wrong place. Embrace the pivot cone. Be the pivot cone. Smoke the pivot cone. Only then will you become a PCA autocrosser.

No, I would still complain any time I need to go to first. I guess I just need to learn how to use the hand break for PCA events.

I plan on going whatever course they use.

I have not heard back if they are going to use my course or not.

It is not always an actual pivot that you must do around the cone. It just depends on the course. I agree that a course where you must actually hand-brake around the cone is not preferred.

Whichever course they use, it should be a fun day. All three look like they will be fun.

I'm in and I am bringing a buddy in a MGB GT (if it is running)! Should be fun, hope Travis will post the course in advance.

I like pivot cones at the Bus Lot, but not so much at PMS. I won't be able to join you guys at the PCA event, though

I'll be there too. Are the courses posted online? Couldn't find them. Cool it's not on Sunday so I can catch the end (of some cars) at the Lemons race.

I don't know about up there in Lewisville, but around here, 6/6/10 is on a Sunday.

$30 for non-PCA members and $25 for members if you pre-register at www.clubregistration.net. I think it is $5 more on site.

Few know, but Lewisville is similar to that Midwestern section of the country that doesn't do daylight savings time. However we are an entire day out of synch with most of the country, so yes, I will make both events this weekend.

Here is the course map I was sent. The A/X chair could change her mind, but as far as I know this will be the couse. One thing I'm sure of is it will be HOT.

That appears to be Robert's course. Congrats! I will be there to help you set it up.

How many runs at PCA events?

Course looks interesting. Just 1 time around the loop with optional direction on slalom? And do we have to do that abrupt reverse that is shown on left side of loop ?
