Thread: Data Acquisition Systems

    Default Data Acquisition Systems

Is there a "cost effective" system I can get to log my AX runs? I feel I'm consistent, and the voices in my head agree with me in most cases.

But I'd still like a way to log the data so I truly know what I'm doing! I do own a Palm is there a system that could work with it????

In advance I appreciate the info!

The most effective system I've seen is the DL90. It's $700, but it's fairly easy to move from one car to another (install softside velcro on the dash) if there is interest in a "group" acquisition. Data analysis is very quick since all data points are corrected by GPS position at 5Hz.

Alternatively, the GtechPro Competition might finally get a firmware upgrade sometime this year that will permit logging autocross runs... We'll see.

There is always the old standby - Geez. $395 for the GEEZ G-Cube dual-pole accelerometer and software designed to couple it with Palm OS2 handhelds.

When you get one can I borrow it to see if my voices are lying to me?

I hear you need to be moving for these things to work!

I have a G-analyst. It has an 8 minute limit unless you record to a laptop. Display is not the best but it will download to a laptop. I just need a laptop.

They don't make them anymore... Geez cube uses the same (similar) software and is the hardware replacement...

You can get a G-Analyst on ebay. I have seen several. Prices range from 85 to 120. Andy Hollis has a G-analyst in his Miata.
The Geez software produces a track map and a "useage" factor on how hard you drive. With the Geez you need a palm pilot and a laptop to download to and read the data.
Being a member of TCB, I opted for the G-analyst.
    Anyone got a cheap laptop?

Dang, those are the highest prices I have seen.
I have seen them go for $90.
Keep trying, more will pop up.
