And you can bet a variant of that engine will find its way in to the ND.

"Mazda says that the new 2.0-liter, direct-injection four-cylinder is good for 155 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, which offers modest increases over the old, non-DI 2.0-liter mill."

I hope that's at the wheels and not the crank, otherwise those numbers are worse than the NC. I wonder if it'll need higher than 93 octane?

The ND will have the twin-turbo version.

    direct injection sucks
I had an 06 Audi A3 2.0T ... same Hitachi cam driven high pressure fuel pump as the Mazdaspeed3
Have fun with carbon buildup on the intake valves ... unless you want to run an illegal atmospheric dump PCV lol

Mazda said a while back that the ND would have less power than the NC, but at the same time will be much lighter.

You know if they would stuff the motor from the Mazdaspeed 3 in an NC I would have one sitting in my garage. This sounds like a nice econobox motor but the Miata needs more umph. "Hello my name is Justin and I'm a HP addict." As they say the first step is admitting you have a problem.

I've often wondered why they didn't do that. Weight? FWD vs RWD?

Maybe it is the lack of a RWD transmission that will stand up to that much hp?
