Thread: NTAXS Autocross #4, 10/1/11, Mineral Wells Airport

NTAXS doesn't allow on-site registration for a few reasons, the main one being that we have an entry cap of 65. When you have 8 runs, you have to limit entries to get everything finished at a reasonable time. I'm sure there are other reasons that JRJ512 can explain, one of which is that NTAXS operates with a tiny crew compared to SCCA and ER (besides course workers, we had a starter who also setup run groups, one timing person, and one control/announcer person), so adding entries is difficult. We also set work assignments and run/work order in advance, balance the heats, etc.

Today we had 10 runs and finished by 2:15, with a 45 min lunch break. A big club w/ onsite registration can't feasibly do that.

Each club has strengths that make them good for the customers they serve. One of NTAXS' strengths is efficiency/simplicity.

The NTAXS group is awesome! I had a blast today, the course was (as my son puts it) beast!

I agree, it was a very fun course! Great job Jerrett!

Fast course, loved that huge sweeper at the start. The announcing was quite "entertaining"

Yeah, I liked the sweeper, too.

    M3 is always the answer.

That sweeper gave me a new level of respect for the grip my car is capable of when I actually drive it properly. What a rush! I looked at the data last night; I was faster through the entire sweeper than 2nd gear would've allowed at the rev limit.

That was the best use of the backstretch I can recall; fast enough to be fun, but complex enough to make you think and setup. Much better than a flatout straight.

I enjoyed the very close racing in all the classes yesterday. There were literally people changing positions throughout the entire 16 spots on every run. KenO, SiliconTek and I were swapping spots right to the end. Considering the extreme difference in the cars, that says a lot about the balance of the course design.

I kick myself for not going into 3rd.

That was the most fun I have had with my clothes on in a LONG time! I think we were all running back to back and the positions were changing so fast!

I'm pretty sure that Ken O did not have his on during runs.

That sweeper was absolutely amazing! I also kick myself for not going into third before the sweeper @#$%. Next time...

I was in 3rd the whole course. But my car has more than enough torque. My struggles were in the offsets right after. It cost me time every run.

I thought the stalker looked great out there. I think the tires were your weakness in those offsets. It's tough to want to run fresher rubber at MW, but I'd bet you are 1-2 sec faster yesterday if you had your "clean" tires.

Get some seat rails in that thing so I can play in that puppy! I'm ready to buy you a set of tires anytime...

MW is just hell on tires. I always use the older set there and just accept the penalty. Right now the old set is really old, been running them all year. I only have 1-2 more events I can do at MW this year so these will have to make it. Next year we'll start fresh again Otherwise both sets would be shit after a day. At least I get grip elsewhere when I need it. Seat rails raise the seat too high for me but maybe over the winter we'll put pins in to make a short and long seat position.

I will get the Dashware overlays up later, too busy taking care of the little racer to get it done now! I tried a different camera angle this time, while it did allow me to catch some cone wiggles, I don't like the view overall.

I was more commenting on folks not showing up if their class is empty or people not showing up because Foley or Wagner are or are not attending, for example. It does happen, I don't know if only within the Evo community, but it does happen. I don't care who shows up personally, I just get fed up with people saying, "Yeah I will be there!" and then have the same people say, "Nah, I don't have a chance at winning, so maybe next time.". Kind of silly really, since no one here makes real money doing this, we are supposed to be having fun! Sorry if I gave the wrong impression!

Protest denied. It's good to be The King.

I wonder how Mike would have done in Mid-Ohio?
