[EDIT: That's the best I can do. They're not my pics, and I don't know HTML. When I load the pics one at a time, IE auto-sizes them to fit the screen. I hope it does this for you, too. If this is still bad, then away. My feelings won't be hurt.]

shrivel, edit your post and reduce the size of those pics... or I'll moderate you. That's just plain 'ol annoying.

Sorry, but sometimes this internet stuff is hard work... :P

I like the cubby behind the seats.

    As for everything else...
    ...and across the line.

Yeah... it is the first space I have seen in a Miata that would really tempt me to put in a subwoofer. I could see an 8" in each side cubby with an amp in the center cubby, leaving the trunk unmolested.

Wow... I like the integrated visors, but that top lever is one big ol' clunky looking mother.

The hard top looks like an S2000's, with the appearance of the window coming all the way down to deck. That, and the rear window is noticeably smaller than the one on the NA/NB hardtop. WHat's the point in that? One of the things I like about my hardtop is the absence of blind spots with it on - the NC hardtop looks like it has B pillars almost as big as the soft top.

    NB hardtop, for comaprison:

... and that's good enough. Thanks.

I like the wheel flares in the rear, and I agree with altiain that the integrated sunvisors are a nice touch. The little stash thing behind the seat is an interesting idea, but in practice it'll just be a source for rattles and noises as items shift and bang around in the grade-A plastic. And the inside of the roof -- the ceiling, if you will -- and the connection to the windshield really are pretty ugly. You'd think they could do something a little nicer.

The interior -- except for that stupid steering wheel -- is growing on me. It is clearly moving upscale from the current fairly simple interior. On the other hand, I like simple, so I'm not sure the interior is a selling point for me.

    Thanks for the additional pictures!

They sure could have done a lot worse with this. I was (as y'all were, I bet) scared it was going the way of the Thunderbird/Mustang/etc. where it would grow and grow until in 2015 it's a 6-seat Miata wagon...

There was a pretty nice 6 or 7 column inch writeup in Autoweek recently, too, and they hit on a lot of the same items you guys are talking about (save the top latch -- the top was down in their pictures). I guess the loss of the "Coke bottle" shape isn't the end of the world to me -- especially since there are so many of NAs and NBs around! -- and I can even live with the little-bitty RX8 fenders on the front.

I wonder if that top latch would make putting the top up easier after it's been down for a while or it's cold. I always have to go through the latch-the-left-latch-latch-the-right-latch-pull-real-hard-unlatch-the-left-relatch-the-left-unlatch-the-right-pull-relatch-the-right-etc. Maybe this one would just be "haul and latch." Or maybe it just won't latch at all in those situations. Come to think of it, it can't be just one latch anyway, can it? Wouldn't it leak?

Gotta agree with everyone on that "retro" wheel. It's appearing all over, but I'm just not used to it yet. Guess it's good that works out, though, because I won't be buying a new car anytime soon!
