Default Dunlop Direzza II-Replacement for Direzza Z1 Star Spec

Interesting. I need new tires bad, and was debating getting the "Magic Toyo's" on 7.5 rims for colder weather. I love the RS3 for summer, but IMHO they suffer when it's cold.

It looks to me like the new SS will sacrifice its superb wet handling (making it DD friendly) to gain more dry grip. The tread pattern has significantly less void, and loses two circumferential grooves. Good for autox/track, bad for all-around use.

    M3 is always the answer.

Great, I still have a year’s worth of tires, stupid long lasting street tires.

Does anybody know the TW rating on these?

On the up side it gives me some time to see what the others guys come out with. It might be an interesting year for ST tires.

The Z-II are about 1.7% faster over the Z-I according to Dunlop.

You think you'll still have that car in January or February?? That is a long damn time for you to keep a car.

And the STR tires last 2x as long.

Actually, the Dunlops are known to outlast the Kooks, at least on lighter cars. Max Hayter won a Tour and a Pro on 300+ run Star Specs.

    Fastrack posted. http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...-nov-solo1.pdf

The SEB has decided, after considering member input, to retract the change which increased the Road Tire minimum required treadwear rating from 140. This will be reflected in the Supplemental Regulations for future National Tour events.

The SEB has also decided that for the Road Tire classes the following tire will be on the Exclusion List, effective 1/1/2013:
Toyo Proxes R1R 195/50-15 size only

Guess I won't be going the Toyo route after all.

Are you planning on running in RT? That exclusion is specific to RT not the ST classes.

Hey, when you all get the D2s, I would love some feedback. My D1s are pretty well used up, and I will need to get new tires in April. Unlike my previous life, the only thing I am getting ready to do up here for the next 5 months is either 1: shovel snow; 2: go snowmobiling or 3: go ice racing; or all of the above....
