Default Lone Star BMWCCA autocross - Mineral Wells, 4/10/05

Ironic, isn't it? I was prepaid for both the Houston Tour and the S2k event this past weekend, and the closest I got to autocrossing was dodging roadkill in a Trailblazer full of relatives on Iowa farm roads.

Anyway, I'm usually not the biggest Lone Star BMWCCA booster on this board, but desperate times call for desperate measures, so I'm planning on attending their autocross this coming Sunday in Mineral Wells in order to get some freakin' seat time.

    Anyone else interested?

I'm thinking about it. I need to get my new tires on before this weekend though. Off topic, do Azenis need to be heat cycled at all or can you run them straight off without wear problems?

No. If they are brand new, be sure they are scrubbed in to get the mold-release off of them. 30-40 miles should be plenty to get them cleaned off.

I will be heading to Atlanta to pick up a CRX Si Thursday AM, and if I get back in time, I may take it to MW to see how it handles before I begin the STS 2 transformation. Yeah, I know, I could have had a Miata for STS 2, but I just couldn't find one cheap enough.

BTW, do you have to pre-register, or just show up?

It ended up being a pretty fun event and luckily the miatas stayed out of the rain somehow. The new tires were great and I put on some new brakes Friday (Hawk HP+ up front and Metal masters on the rear). Breaks were great too.

Yeah, I decided that I should probably stay home and spend time studying for a professional exam instead of going racing.

Just in case anyone is interested here's a link to some photos:

The photographer was driving that day, so not all the cars were photographed. There are some good photos in there though.
