Thread: Internet radio apps

    Default Internet radio apps

I've been using Pandora. I even pay for it! My biggest complaint is this.

If I want to listen to Pink Floyd, sometimes I just want Pink Floyd, not The Eagles, Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin mixed in. Also I'd like to hear a particular song or album.

My second complaint is their AC/DC selection sucks. Mostly B-sides.

Is there another app out there (iOS) that gives me more control of what I hear? I'm willing to pay a few bucks a month for ad free radio.
    ...and across the line.

91.7 has their own app for streaming (and it's in iTunes radio too).

I use Rhapsody. Have for years. $10/month subscription, but I can listen to whatever I want, when I want it, instead of what Pandora thinks I would like.

I like the ability to look for a specific song, listen to it over and over again if I please, listen to the record it came from in its entirety, or listen to the artist's back catalog if I choose.

They seem to get new releases up very quick as well. The new Queens of the Stone Age record was released on Rhapsody within 24 hours of its major label release. Same for the new Nine Inch Nails record (which is fuck!ng fantastic, by the way).

Another benefit with Rhapsody (on the iPhone, wasn't available on their BB app) is that you can download as much music as you'd like to your phone, so you can listen to that content when you're not capable of streaming (like on an airplane).

I have Pandora and iHeart on my phone, but don't use them that often.

+1 for Spotify. I don't subscribe anymore, because I didn't use the mobile app enough to justify the extra 10 bucks a month (plus the data to feed it) but it was very nice when I still had unlimited data. All your playlists migrate over from the desktop version, you can do a pandora-like radio function if you want to, and the library is huge. They don't have any AC/DC though. I think the band just doesn't sell their rights to any online services.
