Default how to tell Front spring from Rear spring

I have never owned a Miata with stock springs -- both cars came with coil overs

I have the OEM 1992 springs in a box I got with a car

A guy with lowering springs wants to ditch them and replace with stock

The springs I have are an 11" long pair and a 14" long pair

I assume the longer ones are Front

    is that correct?

The spring gauge is a better indicator. Heavier/thicker up front. Some rear springs are actually longer when uncompressed.
