Thread: Possible 96 R-package

    Default Possible 96 R-package

Not mine, but this looks to be a rare 96 r-package. It has the lips, spoiler, manual windows, manual steering. Should have the torsen and biltsteins. Wish I wasn't already full-up on project cars right now.

If anybody wants to verify it really is an R, get the VIN and call Mazda. Easy peezy.

When I called Mazda about my NC recently, I ended up having to talk to a supervisor because the first person did not know for sure if it had limited slip or not.

5000 miles, how long has that thing been sitting there? I don't think those are factory wheels either.

And it has the non-leather steering wheel. Looks like an R to me. I just texted the guy for the VIN.

Instead of calling Mazda, once you have the VIN, you can get information on any Mazda directly through the Owners section of Mazda's website.

Front bumper has been painted, it's missing the emblem. Back bumper is faded pretty good, which is why I noticed the front one wasn't faded.

No Texas inspection sticker on it either must be from somewhere other than Texas. Look for Rust!!

Someone run a CARFAX on it - gut feeling says salvage title.

Its got a dealer emblem from Crest on the trunk, so its been in TX for some period of time. I'm going to go see it.

Other than collectability, what is the point of an R-package anymore?

^That's what I was thinking....has been put out to pasture (out-pax'd) in the autocross world.
