^Good question, not all of them provide DB specs or even RPM's (slower is quieter). I've been searching and reading over at GJ, lot's of good info for sure!

    PS
Thanks Titus...looks like HF doesn't have your model any more.

Barney has been happy with our Sears compressor. Mine is 110 but I see this one on sale... http://www.sears.com/craftsman-profe...9&blockType=G9

Have you asked about compressors over here -> http://www.garagejournal.com/
I've got a buddy that put his outside the garage in a "closet" he built just for the compressor. It almost totally isolated the noise from the inside of the garage. His neighbor might not like it, but them's the breaks.

My brother in law had a very large Craftsman compressor in his oversized garage/workshop and it shook the concrete foundation when it ran!

Yup. My buddy poured a separate concrete floor just for the compressor. Pretty sweet set up. Of course, he also has an epoxy-floored 6-car garage with several Porsches in it.

I have owned that compressor for 4 years now. I have not had any problems with it. I can run it down pretty easy with air drills and grinders. I can run it down with a 1/2 inch impact but it takes some doing. If I was still a serious mechanic I would want more, but for hobby use I am happy with it.

After much reading and research, I think I'm going with this one. It's as quiet or quieter than an oil-filled compressor (70db), and will suit my needs.

Ten gallons isn't much reserve for more consuming tasks. Will you ever spray paint or blow off large areas or dry off wet stuff?

That's the 'old' model of the same compressor (10020 vs 10020C). The new one has a smaller footprint, fills faster and supposedly runs at a lower RPM.

99.9% of my usage is air nailer's or an impact gun.

PVC?!?! The guys at GJ would have your head! My shop isn't big enough to warrant that, that's why I have one of these.
