Anyone Epoxy Painted Your Garage Floor?

Looking into doing a garage floor in epoxy and wanted to see what others have used and what they learned.

I've been to Garage Journal and done some research but it seem like its a lot of pros just selling their stuff.

I want to, but haven't yet. 99% of it is correct preparation (cleaning, filling small pits/cracks, etc). Go read more at GJ...more than guys selling stuff, but you can get a discount that way too.

PS - The other option I'm considering is 'tile', like this stuff.

The tile is nice but more expensive per/sf. The garage has a raised ledge at the front and on the side storage section so I think epoxy is the better option for me.

I know prep seems to be the most critical aspect. It looks like renting a Diamabrush concrete sander is the way to go. I'm not ruling out the vendors on GJ and read they offer a discount to GJ members so I will be calling on them once I figure it all out.

Tile is more $, but it's very easy to repair/replace a damaged section. Not sure which would be easier to keep clean, but epoxy can be like ice when it's wet unless you
add abrasive material to the mix.

I agree. It's known to be slippery when wet. I imagine plastic tiles would be too. I hear crap can build up and leak through the tiles making spills harder to clean up.

As for damage, it's pretty difficult to damage but if it's sticking and not peeling up (bad prep) then I believe you can just touch it up. Just like anything, there's positives and negatives and tons of opinions of which one is better. I also like that epoxy floors are easy to clean. A mop and a squeegee and you're done!

Davidan has the plastic tiles in his garage. Looks nice.
