Default Looking for good shocks for my Miata

Hi guys, I think of replacing shocks on my Miata. I think of getting KYB, but these guys have got contraversory reviews. Also, do I have to get shock mounts separately? Any advice from y'all experience is appreciated! Thanx in advane J

Since we have the NA, NB, NC (aka Ford), and ND on the market today which flavor would your car be??

BTW - In my limited Experience KYB's aren't bad. Heck any new shock beats a worn out leaking shock every time.

What are your goals with the shock?

For just street driving it’s hard to beat Bilstein for the money. For competition on a budget I would look at some custom Bilstein or Koni.

I assume that you are looking for lower end shocks, not $3,000-$5,000 double adjustable shocks.

Lots of questions to answer. As asked above, what year is your car? Are you planning to change springs too? What are your goals for your car?

I've got a set of new MCS double adjustable non-remotes I bought for my car, but never installed them. $2500. These were $3350 from MCS.

Yeah youre right, I am not a racer, and want something reliable for average (yet aggressive) drive. I also checked on Bilsteins yesterday, and they seem to be fine to me.

It's NC, 2007, 2.0 L. Springs seem to be fine, and I will keep these for now. As I said, I needed somethin for average drive (not racing or something).

I've got a set of yellow Bilstein Sport shocks from my 2015 NC, $200. They have 15K miles on them, one season of autocross.

I don't know about shock mounts. Maybe go with new OEMs? You should replace your bump stops too.

^Those Bilsteins would be a nice upgrade for your '07.

What do you mean by 'shock mounts'?

I assume he's talking about top hats.
I agree that those Bilsteins would be ideal for his 07. Pair them with new bump stops and some FM springs.

I see no reason to change top hats unless the OP wants more camber.
